With a stage full of incredible talent and no set list, the freewheeling David Bromberg Big Band concerts have become the stuff of legends. David Bromberg’s sensitive and versatile approach to guitar-playing is steeped in the folk and blues traditions. An eclectic artist, he plays bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz, country, western, and rock and roll equally well. He is known for his quirky, humorous lyrics, and the ability to play rhythm and lead guitar at the same time. He’s played with everyone, toured everywhere, and he can lead his raucous big band or hold an audience silent with solo acoustic blues. David Bromberg became a first-call, “hired gun” guitarist for recording sessions, ultimately playing on hundreds of records by famous musicians artists including Bob Dylan (New Morning, Self Portrait, Dylan), Jerry Garcia, Jorma Kaukonen, The Eagles, Willie Nelson, Carly Simon, and Ringo Starr. David Bromberg co-wrote the song “The Holdup” with former Beatle George Harrison, who played on Bromberg’s self-titled 1972 album. In 2008, he was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Traditional Folk Album for Try Me One More Time released with Appleseed Recordings.
