Loudon Wainwright III, Suzzy Roche, Lucy Wainwright Roche: All in a Family

Three Landmark favorite singer-songwriters return for an evening of thoughtful songs and plenty of familial harmonies. The All in a Family concert includes Grammy Award winner Loudon Wainwright III and acclaimed songwriters Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche.

Loudon Wainwright III has a history of success in multiple creative outlets. In 2010 he won the Best Traditional Folk Album Grammy for High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project, and his 2012 recording, Older Than My Old Man Now, was named one of NPR's Top 10 Albums of the Year. His songs have been recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Rufus Wainwright, and Mose Allison.

Loudon's 26th album, 2016's Haven't Got the Blues (Yet)--or HGTB(Y), for short -- is a 14-song, genre-bounding set ("eclectricity," he calls it) dealing with varied subject matter including depression, drinking, senior citizenship, gun control, heartbreak, pet ownership and New York City's arcane practice of alternate side-of-the-street parking.

Wainwright has also starred on TV in M.A.S.H. and Undeclared, and on Broadway in Pump Boys and Dinettes. Most recently, he appeared in Soderbergh's film Mosaic, and has been performing a one-man theatrical show, Surviving Twin, which combines his songs and the writings of his late father: Initially developed as part of University of North Carolina's Playmakers series, Surviving Twin focuses on fatherhood -- both being a father and having one -- and also explores the issues of birth, self-identity, loss, mortality, fashion, and of course, pet ownership.

Suzzy Roche's career in music began when she and her two sisters founded The Roches, a vocal group known for their rich harmonies, quirky lyrics, and casually comedic stage performances, which still performs today. An acclaimed singer songwriter in her own right, Suzzy has recorded two solo albums. She has written two books, appeared in on screen (Crossing Delancey) and has taught at NYU and Princeton. After a lifetime of performing and recording, these days Suzzy enjoys singing on the road with her daughter Lucy Wainwright Roche. Lucy & Suzzy recorded their first CD Fairytale and Myth which won the popular vote for best singer/songwriter album of the year at the Independent Music Awards in 2014 and released their second recording Mud & Apples in 2016.

Lucy Wainwright Roche is the daughter of singer-songwriters Loudon Wainwright III and Suzzy Roche, and the half-sister of singer-songwriters Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright. Initially bypassing the family career to teach, Lucy later made the decision to pursue music full-time. In 2008 she was one of the winners of the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival's "Emerging Artist" competition, and the following year, her song Snare Drum earned her the Independent Music Award for Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Song. Roche released her debut album, Lucy, in October 2010.
